Wild Swan Theater

Education

Classes & Camps
In its Ann Arbor studio and in the Ann Arbor area, Wild Swan Theater offers a variety of classes and camps, including its ever-popular "Camp DoYaWanna?," ranging from stories and drama for pre-schoolers to improvisation and playwriting for older budding talents.

Workshops
Wild Swan Theater offers classroom workshops for students in grades K to 12. Although the workshops can be tailored to meet the individual needs of the classroom, it has achieved national recognition for its pioneering series of innovative workshops bringing drama to thousands of youngsters with disabilities.

Dramatically Able
Wild Swan has published a teacher's handbook and videotape of drama activities for children and adolescents with disabilities entitled Dramatically Able which is currently being distributed nationally.

Books Alive!
Books Alive: Reading Through the Arts is an innovative arts-in-education program which uses drama to improve literacy in young, at-risk readers. The goal of the program has been to use a creative and exciting method to draw children into the world of stories, encouraging them to want to read and to seek out more stories and books in their lives. The success of the pilot program, hugely enthusiastic response from children, teachers, and librarians, evaluations supporting the methodology, and the receipt of one of Michigan’s highest honors, The Great Lakes Community Arts Awards, has encouraged us to expand the program and make it as widely available as possible.
